Ulama from Indonesia, namely Syamsuddin as sumatrani

Syech Syamsuddin Bin Abdillah As Sumatrani or commonly called by the name Syamsuddin Pasai, he is a great scholar and Sufism figure who came from Aceh. Syech Syamsuddin Bin Abdillah As Sumatrani was known as Syechul Islam in the sultanate of Aceh during the reign of sultan Iskandar Muda (1607-1636) M. Syech Syamsuddin Bin Abdillah As Sumatrani was a student of Hamzah Fansury like his teacher Syamsuddin was also a figure of Wahdatul Wujud, although he followed the same flow, but there is a difference between this teacher and student. Hamzah Fansuri is a Sufi seeker of God, who tries to search for God because he is driven by his heart. Meanwhile, Syamsuddin as sumatrani, a Sufi expert and philosopher, felt more of a need to recognize the nature and all aspects of things, and to know the hidden unity. As sumatrani is of the view that the effort to know God must be guided by a perfect teacher because otherwise it will fall into error. As a trusted student, As Sumatrani followed the Wahdatul Wujud ideology that was followed by his teacher, and the ideology adopted by As Sumatrani contradicted Nuruddin Ar Raniri. So by Ar Raniri, he is considered to be spreading misleading teachings. As a result, many of his works in Arabic and Malay were burned and destroyed by Nuruddin ar Raniri on the orders of Sultan Iskandar Sani (1636-1641). However, there are several books by As Sumatrani that remain and have been saved but are no longer complete. One of his masterpieces that escaped the burning, Miras al Mu'min (the inheritance of the faithful), is a book of kalam that contains questions and answers about Islamic beliefs. This book explores the nature of Allah SWT, the nature of the Prophets, Revelation and the day of resurrection. One of his books, entitled Miras Al Muhaqiin (the inheritance of people who believe) is a book of Sufism that explores the dhikr and ma'rifat of Allah SWT.
